Wedge check
If a wedge walks, something already failed
A scoring club is allowed a short hop. It is not allowed a crawl. On April ice crust the hop is the villain. On July bake the walk is. Tess treats them as different crimes.
April
Skip on freeze-thaw poa
Ice in the thatch makes the first kiss mean. The ball hops, looks alive, and golfers buy more bounce as a superstition. Bounce is a sole story. The hop is a land story. We mark hop height first. If the hop is tall because loft is too strong or grooves are tired, bounce will not rewind it.
July
A second bounce that should not exist
Heat glazes the green. A 54° that sat in May hops twice and walks to the back fringe. Groove wear shows up here before it shows up in a spin number you like. We will say the wedges are tired if the hop cluster says so. New grooves on the same loft often kill the walk without a new grind story.
Bring 50 / 54 / 58 if that is your set, or whatever odd split you actually carry. We do not invent a tour split for a Fargo municipal. Pair with irons on a Hop Sheet if the 9 and the 50 are walking into each other.
